In a stunning act of treason against the Constitution, Democrats voted 219-206 Thursday to defy the Supreme Court and murder the 1st Amendment rights of everyone other than major Democrat campaign donors, through the DISCLOSE Act.
This tyrannical attack on free speech violates everything the left pretends to stand for (civil liberties, fairness, equality, etc.), protecting only unions from extreme "transparency" measures and exploding the influence of lobbyists...and they even know that it will once again be struck down by the Supreme Court, but not before it silences everyone but Democrats for Election 2010.
Conservatives have warned from the beginning that tolerating unconstitutional nanny state intrusions and interferences in the free market for temporary relief from this government-created economic crisis would come with strings attached, and now here we sit, watching TARP recipients like GM get banned from the electoral process, while the unions that ran it into the ground get full access.
Take a good look. This is what tyranny looks like in its early stages, when citizens still have a chance to rise up and stop it.

what about the exception for nonprofits such as republican favorite the NRA?
Has anyone noticed that every time Washington attempts to regulate compaign contributions, all their focus is on contributors instead of those recieving the funds? This penalizes "bribers" when the "bribees" are the real problem.
I guarantee that if crooked politicians were pursued with the fervor appropriate to stopping treason (with the same severity of penalties), campaign finance reform would no longer be a problem. Its not how much money, or who gives it; its how willing the politicians are to sell the public trust.
Guaranteed: No campaign finance reform will ever work until politicians are held accoutable in a measure comensurate with the amount of damage thier improprieties can cause. You wanna play fast and loose? You may end up hangin' from a noose -- sucka!
For a real, workable campaign finance reform bill, see my article: ( examiner.com/x-29000-Habersham-County-Conservative-Examiner~y2009m12d12-Campaign-finance-reform-hostage-to-incumbents ).
Can this be overturned with the next administration?
Charles, I am dropping my membership to NRA... unlike liberals, conservatives hold their representatives accountable for their actions.
And I thought we were all equal under the law. Remember the U.S. Constitution is the SUPREME law of the land.
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or ABRIDGING the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Pelosi should be removed, NOW!
The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests. - Patrick Henry
The founding fathers were brilliant!
You all remember the movie Red Dawn? What happens when the soldiers rounding up 'dissident' Americans, making them dig pits and then shooting them, are wearing a U.S. flag on their sleeves? When will we wake up as a nation? Will it have to come to that before we get a National Clue? This congress and the scourge that managed to get elected president, are traitors to these United States. They ought to be punished as such.
This too will be overturned at SCOTUS as political passes handed to the connected for the FREE SPEECH card.
Enough is enough. How does an American democracy rid itself of a despot? Impeachment? Vote him out? Maybe he should be offered a job as a speech writer or TV talk show host. He'd be better at those than his current job.
This is ludicrous!! When do we get to take up arms and win back our freedom, I'm ready!
well Moon, if the government is looking out for rightwing radicals that might be a danger to the country, judging by the comments, your column would be a good starting point...Homeland Security would only need to quote many of the "overthrow the government" posts to your column to prove it's point about rightwing zealots to watch out for...thanks for gathering them in one place, so they can be "investigated" easier...I can just see them now with a legal request of IP addresses for the most violent speakers.
Hold on before you drop your membership to the NRA. They are fighting for our 2nd amendment rights and in order to do that, they need 1st amendment rights too.
The NRA assists in training military soldiers which would make them susceptible to the rule, therefore, in order for the NRA to function under its original charter it would have to sever all contractual ties with the federal government.
well [Walrus], if [the people] are looking out for [leftist aggitators] that [have helped destroy] the country, judging by [your] comments, [you] would be a good starting point...[The Tea Party housecleaning crew]would only need to quote many of [your freedom-hating, statist posts] to [many] column[s] to prove [their] point about [left]wing zealots to watch out for...thanks for [posting all over Examiner.com] so they can be "investigated" easier...I can just see them now with a legal request [your] IP address [as one of] the most [anti-American, Constitution-hating] speakers.
Tea Party patriots and Real Americans are going to have to step up and remove this tyranny through one means or another!!!! I think we all know what I mean. Go Tea Party go!
To amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to prohibit foreign influence in Federal elections, to prohibit government contractors from making expenditures with respect to such elections, and to establish additional disclosure requirements with respect to spending in such elections, and for other purposes.
actually the IDEA sounds good. we need this type of government control on contributions....
just because you aren't in power, you seem to claim everything the party in power does is treason.... where are your REAL solutions to real issues... instead of stirring up knee jerk reactions?
maybe I've missed something here, but I din't recall anyone "AMENDING" the constitution and taking away anybody's 1st Amendment rights. What we have is an unconstitutional law that restricts or removes these rights from certain groups. I suggest that we tell Congress and the idiot Judicial branch to shove it and start exercising all the constitutional rights thay seem to believe they have the power to take away. That includes the IDIOT OBOMA.
Slap right in the face of the founding fathers and the American people. Probably not real great for the TEA party movement huh?
you people make me sick to say the unions destroyed g.m. is streching things a bit when in fact g.m. is makeing a comeback now that the unions have more say so in the way things are run, it did'nt take g.m. long to pay back there loans with interest.
Mr Moon,
I have just recently become aware of these Conservative Examiner articles, and I must say - I am thrilled that there is another source for the truths that the Lamestream Media wouldn't even think of writing about. I have read 3 or 4 stories so far, and it donned on me -I have taken all 3 or 4 at face value as truth - which I believe I am correct in doing - but I decided to be safe and I am going to 'Google' Disclosure Act 2010 (or something along those lines, just to fact check.
I am almost certain I will find it all true - but I am just being honest. So, before I lob extreme gratitudes to you for shedding light on such atrocities - I need to make sure this is all reliable. Please pardon my curiosity. I will post, in only a sentence or two - my findings.
To UAW:
Your point is well taken, I am a former union worker (16 years) - and I do not like to hear all the immediate trouncing upon the simple mention of unions - so I am with you in that.
However, I do feel, very firmly, that unions have really expanded beyond their 'boundaries' when it comes to politics. You may disagree (or you may agree in a sense) that because of the almighty dollar, unions have gotten themselves in pretty cozy positions when it comes to having a say in how laws are written, and how certain policies are carried out. That, to me, is inexcusable really. I single out unions because they are part of this dialogue, but my feelings include ANY person or group that can influence outcomes by donating more than others to campaigns. There ought to be STRICT oversight and $$ limits on how much a group or person can give. And that includes watering it down by having individual members/employees give under their own names. It has ruined our system of politics. What say u?

oops ... unintentional duplicate post
Unions are worthless.I belonged to two of them and they took the dues, but never helped the employees. They are nothing more than democratic henchmen.
The Unions did not run GM into the ground. They've have tried to keep US citizens working at a decent wage. The citizen who refused to buy american products, the employer who wants all the profits for cheap labor, inflation in the mist of lower wages, those are the kind of things that hurt GM. For those who paid union dues and never noticed anything done; that probably means they were good employees who never got into trouble. If not, they would have gotten their butt chewed by a rep, they probably didn't get involved or they may have seen what the union goes through to get wages for the workers. They might have seen the give/take that goes on during good/bad times at the bargaining table. They were never falsly accused/treated unfairly or they might have seen the Reps defending them. say goodbye to unions, say goodbye to the middle class. Shame, Republicans won't support them. Its about all I support on the Democrat side. Come on Republicans, support unions! I want to be on your side
I for one will not be silenced by this criminal goverment .cut out pelosi's tongue if you want to silence anyone
GM put it's self where they are today. NAFTA and the idea that, "if we Americans" won't work for "Mexican" wages we will move the production to Mexico, that is the problem. Union members gave up to help GM, now GM is paying the union members back by giving the non-union workers back the pay they gave up. I see no Constitutional Ammendment in this "law" that was passed, that takes away the 1st Ammendment!
really treason and murder. come on i may not agree, but this is why people tune out what might be a good message.
you morons... the NRA is exempted from the law. Since when has the NRA been a bunch of democratic henchmen?
It's called "prior restraint" - it is ALWAYS unconstitutional - just like MCCain-Feingold - monetary contributions are "free speech" whether the ignorant Democratic masses like it or not.
Also unions really appeal to Obamaites 'cause they're whiners and want jobs that they don't really have to do but can't get their feelings hurt by getting fired.
Union leaders perpetuate their own jobs - they couldn't care less about anything else - except power.
I like how I am reading these comments, and I read some of the "democrat" posts... They are seriously insane, and I am serious. The very idea to excuse this Bill is that the NRA gets the same exclusions?!
Good Lord, guess we better get used to Tyranny, cause it appears to be here for a good bit.
Let's get things straight. Unions have their own agenda. It is to serve themselves well. Keep as many people in the union so they can have more money for themselves. I was kicked out of CWA for working to hard. Thats right! I used to work an average of 30 trouble tickets a day and was told to work no more than 6-8 a day and if I did more it made my brothers and sisters in the union look bad and if I didn't stop I would be kicked out. I was kicked out and they still continued to withhold union dues. Not a right to work state. Meaning you do not have a right to work. The union ensured that bill was passed. What a croc of crap. I don't have a right to work. Does that mean I have a right to not pay my bills.
I am very disappointed in the NRA and I will NOT be remewing my membership. I will join the Gun Owners of America instead. This is a very dangerous bill and I can't believe anyone wouldn't see a problem with it.
Elected representatives voting on something is now treason? You teabaggers have no place in polite society. Anything you don't like inspires a call of treason as you reach for your guns. You're immature, frightened, ant-American thugs.
And next up..and to ensure this is workable:
Net "neutrality".
Any one who supports this is enemy to the US and thus, to me.
We need to get back to the consumer driven economy.
Do NOT buy Union on the premise that you're helping their workers. That's a lie.
The so-called 'fix' done by bailouts is temporary vote fodder and will fail, as more and more Americans cannot afford product.
This story is complete hogwash. Fabricated GOP propaganda, pure and simple. They should be ashamed of themselves.

LOL Please don't even associate polite with liberal. Liberals are usually the ones who resort to name calling, unnecessary insults, and often voilence and destroying personal property when they're not getting their way. How entertaining to see someone imply that conservatives are the ones who aren't polite. Silly
Replacrat says:

Replacrat, lets agree on something here. The wages that are being paid to union workers and the benefits that are part of that wage are far and above what auto workers outside the US make. This means that the unions are forcing the US auto industry to price their vehicles higher then their competition. Please don't blame the citizens of this country for trying to stretch their dollar as far as they can. I personally try to buy American when ever possible. I also am disturbed by the lack of American products that are available for purchace. The problem is that the American Dream has being havin a 4000 sq ft home and a 20' fishing boat. If this is what you want, then by all means don't apply at a factory because for the most part it requires an unskilled laborer. The workers are overpaid PERIOD. Try to see past all that rhetoric you're spoon fed by the union bosses, who are laughing to the bank. blamin it on the CEO's
Since the Senate isn't going to pass it, I wouldn't worry.

1. learn to spell correctly ant-american.... if anyone is Anti-American it would be people of your ilk..then learn to form deep meaningful thought with an opinion not given to you by the mindless, bias media....
2. Guns freed this country from oppression, guns protected it from invasion, guns, have given people the ability to defend themselves (how many things can you name make 110 pound housewife the equal to any 235 pound mugger.) and guns so long as they are in the hands of of law abiding citizens will keep this country free....but wait i dont have pictures...so you might not get this....lets see cuba's gun control worked for freedom, so did Moa's, Lenin's, Hitler's, do you want more....
Just perused the bill, and it (1) limits what individual or corp can pay in political campaign, (2) provides for greater transparency, and (3) applies to unions just like everybody else. This blog is really deceptive.
