When Christ said: "That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church" he was not talking about a rock on the earth's surface, he was referring to himself. Psalms 62:1 "Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved."
Wherefore, our Lord's Church is within each of us as we are each a piece of the rock, the piece of the rock also known as our soul or the tabernacle of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our piece of the rock (our souls) provide to us knowledge, it provides to us a conscience to know right from wrong, it allows for us to pray and to worship, it traces our existence to that of our origin and it provides to each of us the potential for eternal life and salvation.
Whether we go to a traditional Church or hold Church service at home, it is through our own souls that we use as a tool for communication between our Heavenly Father and ourselves. We pray and worship through our souls not because of what building, if any we may be in.
There are far more House Churches in the world than there are traditional Churches.
It all comes down to preference and it has nothing to do with location. Whether it is a House Church a Traditional Church or in a Field, God's Church is within you. The location of the building you use to profess your faith in is all about preference and what is the most convenient.
