House Calls for Giggy, Star Pup from Real Housewives of Beverly HillsRecently, I found myself in an interesting circumstance while providing a house call to a regular client in Beverly Hills. This regular client lives on a beautiful private road in the hills of Beverly Hills and will be further known in this story as "my/the client."
It turns out that there are other celebrities living on the streets as well, with one of them being Lisa Vanderpump from Bravo’s Real Housewives of the Beverly Hills (RHOBH), Vanderpump Rules, Dancing with the Stars, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter commercials, and Villa Blanca and Sur restaurants.

I'm connected to Vanderpump via Twitter, as both she and her celebrity canine companion, Giggy the Pomeranian, are avid users of social media. @LisaVanderpump has nearly 1,000,000 followers and @GiggyThePom has over 80,000 (not bad for a species having limited computer skills). I've also met Vanderpump, her husband Kenneth Todd, and Giggy at the 2012 Hero Dog Awards in the luxurious Beverly Hills Hotel. All human and canine family members were friendly, well put together, and graciously willing to pose a for photograph.

Veterinary House Call Adventures — Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Edition

Having previously communicated with Vanderpump about her Giggy’s health concerns on a limited basis via social media and after meeting her at the awards ceremony, I hoped to ultimately provide veterinary care to her pets. This hope never quite worked out, but you never know what's going to happen in this town so entrenched in the entertainment industry.

If you watch RHOBH, you’ve seen Vanderpump’s grand front gate emblazoned with the name Villa Rosa. Having always been curious about the location of the Vanderpump's Villa, my husband/business manager Phil enthusiastically informed me that he discovered Villa Rosa while walking our dog Cardiff up the street from my client. Once we knew that Vanderpump was my client’s neighbor, another meeting seemed inevitable.

Rather fortuitously, Phil was waiting in the car outside of my clients home for me to finish my house call when Lisa's husband Ken and a cluster of dogs came strolling by. Phil seized the opportunity and reminded Ken about our previous meeting and informed him that we had a client on his street.

A short time later, Vanderpump and Rumpy, her energetic golden retriever puppy, came strolling by. She expressed concerned that one of her Pomeranians was having an issue with a paw and asked Phil if I could check the dog out. As I was currently in the middle of treating my patient at my client’s house, Phil asked if we could stop by the Villa Rosa once I was done. A short time later, we were being granted access into the fabulous grounds kept within the substantial security gates.

The first thing we saw was a bridge crossing a moat surrounding the grand home. Out of nowhere, we then heard a woman's voice say “Oh, come on in.” In searching for the source of the voice, I spied two enormous swans seemingly engulfing a petite and attractive woman. Upon my approach to greet her and the swans, Vanderpump informed me to stay back as she was still striving to get the swans to bond to her via feeding sessions.

We then entered the well-appointed Vanderpump-Todd residence and proceeded to provide physical examinations of all the household dogs but for Rumpy. Fortunately, the pooch exhibiting suspected foot pain was not doing so at the time of my exam nor did I find any concerning abnormalities that would cause limping.

Vanderpump enthusiastically consented to my request for a photo with Giggy and suggested I share it with the world via Twitter (making sure to attach Giggy's and her handles, of course).

Hopefully, my veterinary skills left a good impression and I will again be asked to Villa Rosa to take on the dogs as my patients in a more official capacity. After all, being a Beverly Hills house call veterinarian “isn't always diamonds and rosé, but it should be." (Vanderpump's line in the RHOBH opening credits)
