The Fourth of July is one of the busiest days of the year at Walt Disney World in Central Florida. Since the holiday falls on a Friday this year, it is expected to be even busier than usual, with many families taking advantage of the three day weekend. If you plan to go, arrive early. It is not unusual for a park to reach capacity on Independence Day. According to the Weather Channel, it will be hot, with a good chance of thunderstorms.
The Magic Kingdom will open at 8:00am on July 4, and will remain open until 1:00am. Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade will run twice; at noon and again at 3:30pm. Main Street Electrical Parade will also take place twice; at 10:00pm and again at midnight. Celebrate The Magic will transform Cinderella Castle at 10:45pm and again at 11:45pm. There will also be a special Independence Day fireworks display. Disney's Celebrate America! - A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky will be held over the park at 9:00pm.
Epcot will open at 9:00am on July 4, with World Showcase opening two hours later. The park will close to the general public at 10:00pm, and will then have two Extra Magic Hours for Walt Disney World resort guests. IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth will take place at 10:00pm. There will be an extra five minutes of fireworks called The Heartbeat of Freedom after IllumiNations.
Disney's Hollywood Studios will open at 9:00am on Independence Day, and will remain open until midnight. Fantasmic! will take place at 9:00pm and again at 11:00pm. At 10:15pm there will be a special rock and roll themed fireworks display.
Disney's Animal Kingdom will be open 9:00am-8:00pm on the Fourth of July. There are no special events scheduled at the park.
Both Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will be open 9:00am-8:00pm on Independence Day. On hot days the water parks often reach capacity, so plan to arrive early.
