San Francisco Salsa Rueda Festival

Dates: February 13-16, 2014
Location: San Francisco

The SF/Bay Area Salsa Rueda Festival is a can't-miss event for Cuban-style salsa dancers. The event is a salsa dancing extravaganza with dozens of dance instructors from around the world. The event takes place at the Hotel Whitcomb in the City and features 4 days and nights of dance workshops, performances, and dancing. Live Timba and Salsa music from popular bands.

San Francisco Salsa Festival

Dates: April 17-19, 2014
Location: San Francisco

The SF Salsa Festival is one of the largest salsa events in San Francisco, taking place over three nights in the city. The party starts on Thursday night at Cafe Cocomo, a local salsa hot spot, then moves to the Westin San Francisco Hotel for the remaining two days.

Friday features dance performances and a dance competition which serves as a qualifier for the World Latin Dance Cup. The shows are followed by dancing until 2am to live music. The main ballroom is reserved for salsa, and there are two smaller rooms for bachata and kizomba. Saturday features workshops during the day time with some of the best dancers from around the world, then dancing and performances until 2am.

San Francisco International Bachata Festival

Dates: July 17-21, 2014
Location: San Francisco

The SF Bachata Festival is one of the largest bachata events in the world. Running for a total of five days, the SF Bachata Festival is one of the longest dance events in the Bay Area, and attracts dancers from around the world. Although bachata is the main focus of the event, there are plenty of salsa dancers and instructors at the event as well, and there is even a dedicated salsa room where dancers can go to get their salsa fix.

San Jose Jazz Summer Fest

Dates: August 8-10, 2014
Location: San Jose

The San Jose Jazz Summer Fest (formerly the San Jose Jazz Festival) is one of the biggest outdoor music festivals held in the Bay Area. Held in downtown San Jose, the SJ Jazz Summer Fest takes over downtown with a half-dozen stages playing music ranging from Blues to Smooth Jazz, and yes, Salsa. There is a stage specifically for salsa and Latin music at the event, and hundreds of dancers gather to dance and listen to the music on the streets of San Jose.

San Francisco International Salsa Congress

Dates: November 20-23, 2014
Location: SF/Oakland

The SF Salsa Congress is one of the largest salsa events in the Bay Area, attracting thousands of dancers from the Bay Area and around the world. The event kicks off on Thursday night with a pre-party at Cafe Cocomo, and then mvoes to the Oakland Marritott Hotel for the rest of the event.

The SF Salsa Congress features three days of dance workshops with some of the top dancers in the world, followed by dance performances and dancing until 4am in the morning every night. On Sunday afternoon they host their famous "Jack & Jill" competition, where dancers are paired off randomly and freestyle to random salsa music. The evening features more salsa competitions, followed by dancing until the wee hours of the morning.
