Hottest red carpet celebrity fashion trends of the 'Golden Globes' (Photos)

It was unusually chilly as the celebrities walked the red carpet of the “70th Annual Golden Globe Awards” airing last night, January 13, on NBC, but that didn’t stop the stars from showcasing some of the hottest trends at one of the biggest fashion shows of the year.

The “Golden Globes” made history with the first female duo, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, to host an award show and the pair walked the red carpet wearing two of the most popular celebrity fashion trends of the evening; black and plunging necklines.

The air was cool for California, bordering on 50 degrees, as celebrities arrived for the “Golden Globes”, prompting another red carpet celebrity fashion trend, long sleeves, as seen on Glenn Close, Jennifer Lopez, Helen Mirren and Kate Hudson. For those brave enough to go sleeveless or strapless, hand warmers were given out to keep the stars cozy.

Other notable red carpet celebrity fashion trends of the “Golden Globes” included the red gowns visible on winner Claire Danes, Megan Hilty of “Smash” in a red Novis Marilyn Monroe number and Zooey Deschanel wearing a red Oscar de la Renta, bright colors, black or black and gold, plunging necklines and flesh tones.

Color flooded the red carpet at the “Golden Globes” as seen on Nicole Richie wearing blue designed by Naeem Khan, Jodi Foster, the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement recipient, in navy Giorgio Armani, Globe winner Jennifer Lawrence donning a deep coral Dior Haute Couture, Jessica Alba stunning in saffron, Lucy Liu in floral, Rosario Dawson and Jessica Chastain in aqua, and Halle Berry smoldering in a multi-colored, off the shoulder Versace.

Black or black and gold was extremely popular on the red carpet, more so this year than in “Golden Globes” past. Debra Messing wore a black Donna Karan, Glenn Close donned Zac Posen, Nicole Kidman was studded in a black and gold Alexander McQueen, and Stacy Keibler glowed in black Armani Privé. Golden Globe winner Julianne Moore accepted in a black and white color block by Tom Ford, and Helen Mirren stayed warm in a long sleeved Badgley Mischka. Salma Hayek and Sofia Vergara showed off their curves in black, while Kate Hudson’s neckline plunged in black and gold.

Another hot celebrity fashion trend on the chilly “Golden Globe” red carpet was flesh tone, worn by those flawless figures we love to hate like Megan Fox in Dolce and Gabbana, Kerry Washington in an ankle length Miu Miu, Jennifer Lopez flaunting it all in a Zuhair Murad gown, Amy Adams in Marchesa, and Hayden Panettiere of “Nashville” who looked perfect from head to toe in Cavalli.

Although the above stars wore the hottest red carpet celebrity fashion trends of the “70th Annual Golden Globe Awards”, some wore it better than others. The top of Nicole Kidman’s gown looked more like an alien uniform or ancient Roman armor than a gown befitting the red carpet and the Fashion Police are all over Jessica Chastain’s Calvin Klein for hanging all over the Golden Globe winner and not fitting her figure.
