The Orlando Magic Dancers cheerleaders have been performing at home NBA basketball games since the Orlando Magic joined the NBA as an expansion team in 1989. The Magic Dancers claim to be the first dance team to do trampoline dunks at NBA games. The Magic cheerleaders started doing trampoline dunks in 2003.

Tryouts for the Magic Dancers are held annually in the summer. To be an Orlando Magic cheerleader, women must be 18 years old by the audition date. Previous experience as a dancer in jazz and hip-hop is required. To prepare to be an Orlando Magic Dancers cheerleader, women can take prep classes at a number of different dance studios in the Orlando area.
At the tryouts, women are judged based upon appearance, fitness, dance ability, style, strength, completion of movement, energy, projection, and potential. Women advancing to the finals will also be judged on personality, and each finalist will have to do a personal interview with the judges.
In addition to performing at all Orlando Magic home NBA basketball games at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, Magic Dancers cheerleaders also collectively appear at over 250 public events in the Orlando area each year. Some of the events the cheerleaders appear at include conventions, trade shows, corporate meetings, and grand store openings, as well as at charity and fundraising functions.
The Orlando Magic have their own designated charity program, the Challenger Little League. The Magic Dancers often volunteer to appear at Challenger Little League games, events and functions.
Some Orlando Magic Dancers cheerleaders also get to travel overseas to perform. In the recent past, Magic Dancers cheerleaders have traveled to Belgium, China, England, Hong Kong, Iceland, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, and Turkey.
