Honeybees Dancers tryouts are held annually in July
Tryouts to be a New Orleans Hornets Honeybees cheerleader are held annually in July. To be a Honeybees cheerleader, women must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma. There are no maximum age, height, or weight restrictions, but women must be in top physical shape to perform all the dance moves required of a Honeybees cheerleader at NBA games.
Prior to the actual tryouts, the Hornets run a series of prep classes to help prospective cheerleaders see what it takes to be a Honeybees cheerleader. At the prep classes, choreography routines are taught, as well as floor technique combinations, and women will be given audition tips and can ask their own questions about the tryouts.
At the tryouts, women are judged by their showmanship, energy, personality, professionalism, maturity, dance technique, style, commitment, physical fitness, personal appearance, attitude, and teamwork skills. A background in dance is not required, but is helpful.
