The Houston Rockets of the NBA have cheerleaders called the Power Dancers. These are the hottest of the Houston Rockets Power Dancers cheerleaders.
The Power Dancers cheerleaders have been around since 1994. Each season, there are 22 Houston Rockets cheerleaders on the Power Dancers squad.
Tryouts for the Houston Rockets Power Dancers cheerleaders are held annually in July
Auditions to be a Power Dancer are usually held in July. Competition to be a Rockets Power Dancer cheerleader can be fierce. It's not unusual for hundreds of women to show up at the tryouts.
Prior to the actual tryouts, the Houston Rockets hold a series of fee based prep classes to show prospective cheerleaders what the team is looking for. To be a Power Dancer cheerleader, women must be at least 18 years of age, and be gainfully employed, or be a student, or be a mom.
Rockets Power Dancers collectively appear at over 200 events per year
In addition to performing at all Houston Rockets home NBA basketball games at the Toyota Center in Houston, Power Dancers cheerleaders also make appearances at over 200 events each year. At the public appearances, the Rockets Power Dancers meet and great with fans, pose for photos, sign autographs, and sometimes teach dance routines.
Some of the events that the Rockets cheerleaders appear at each year include, parades, school rallies, conventions, grand openings, trade fairs, corporate functions, bar/bat mitzvah's, and even birthday parties. The Power Dancers also appear at many community and charity events each year in the Houston area.
Houston Rockets Power Dancers cheerleaders have also performed overseas. Some of the places the cheerleaders have appeared overseas include Bosnia, Great Britain, Kosovo, the Philippines, Taiwan, Turkey, and China (six times).
The Rockets Power Dancers do a popular yearly swimsuit calendar. The Power Dancers usually have a swimsuit calendar release party, and as a promotional activity, the swimsuit calendar is sometimes given away to fans for free at certain games.

Singer Natalie Alvarado, often just called Natalie, was a Rockets Power Dancers cheerleader from 1997 to 2004. Natalie's biggest hit to date is "Goin' Crazy", which reached #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2005.
