Hotspotio is a new Android app that makes sharing Wi-Fi a fun experience.
“The days of buying overpriced coffee and snacks just to get WIFI are now over,” said Simon Schultz, partner at Prehype, the venture development firm behind Hotspotio. “With Hotspotio, our goal is to make fast, reliable WIFI available in any part of your city—in exchange for a simple and often free favor.”
Hotspotio allows you to share Wi-Fi with Facebook friends, Twitter followers and LinkedIn connections.
The app will list WIFI and 4G networks that belong to friends and other people you can get to know. In exchange for the WIFI access that you see on the Hotspotio map system, Hotspotio members can show appreciation for the gift of WIFI access with a hug, drink, Facebook ‘like’ and other nicities.
The people at Hotspotio are banking on Wi-Fi sharing being the next big trend.
“Bicycle sharing, ride sharing and even couch sharing found enormous popularity around the world,” said Schultz. “We think WIFI sharing has the same potential.”
Hotspotio’s GPS-enabled map is easy to use and it makes it kind of game for users to find all the available hot spots in the network in their are.
If you are in a bind, or on the go and need immediate access to Wi-Fi, Hotspotio gives you piece of mind that this Wi-Fi is safe and secure.
Hotspotio ensures that users can get a fast internet connection without paying up front, using expensive pay-as-you-go connections or have to drink coffee you don’t want.
