So, you want a hot tub. That's terrific. Portable hot tubs are wonderful additions to any home. But where does one put one in order to adhere to Feng Shui principles? Surely, this is a water element and so it has special locations where a hot tub should be placed.

Since this is my first article, I'm going to give you some of the basics of Feng Shui before going into more detail about portable hot tubs placement in your home. First off is the term Bagua., which is the main tool used to examine the energy of any given area. To use bagua, you will have to take a compass reading of your home or backyard (yes, I'm applying Feng Shui to outdoor living areas because they are so popular these days, an ever-growing market that needs to have its energy right., too). Once you have done a compass reading, you will know where each space lies. The water element is placed in the north, with a compass reading of from 337.5 to 22.5. Therefore, when you are placing your hot tub in a space. either indoors or out, be sure to place it in the northern part. This will ensure that your energy flow is excellent. Of course, portable hot tubs can't always fit in the northern part of your bathroom or inside area, so it's a good idea to place one outside. You'll still have good bagua.

There are also five elements in Feng Shui thought. The elements are water, as stated above, wood, fire, earth and metal. Each has colors associated with it. For water, the colors are blue and black, which means your northern area should have blue and black colors in it. The other elements have different colors associated with them, but that is a topic for another article. The right placement of colors ensures that bagua is going to flow right. So if you are using a hot tub, you might also want to place some black candles around it to bring in even more bagua.

Portable hot tubs staying outdoors should adhere to the same guidelines in order to have the right bagua, or energy flow. When designing your outdoor living area, make sure your hot tub goes in the north. Place the rest of your outdoor items -- gardens, kitchens, patios, decks, fireplaces -- in other areas, which again is fodder for another topic. However, for good energy, or Chi (another term used prolifically in Feng Shui), you should remember this rule.

The water element helps you with career goals, aspirations and success, much as water itself flows freely to bring clarity to your mind. The plethora of water in portable hot tubs will help you get ahead at your job and bring you positive energy for success. Add a hot tub to your northern area today!
