April, May and June aren't just about showers and flowers – at least not in Springfield, Mo. The three “Motorhead Months,” as they’re called there, are about fast and loud rides, historical vehicles and everything else that revs, squeals, roars, howls and burns rubber.

Among featured events, “Spyderfest” will take off April 29-May 4 with an early-bird kickoff party, an owners’ block party, night drag races, bonfires and the like. Venue will be the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds.

Springfield will take a jump back to the ‘50s May 23-25 when the National Street Rod Association’s Mid-America Street Rod Nationals come back to town. Spectators can look forward to seeing over 2,000 vintage cars zipping around.

The American Truck and Historic Society will move into the Motorhead spotlight May 29-31 with an eye-popping array of antique and historic trucks. Then, on June 5-7, Springfield’s Summers at the River Entertainment Complex will be crawling with all kinds of cars, trucks and motorcycles.

Next up will be the 17th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Ozark 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals 2014, set for June 21-22 at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. More than 1,000 4-wheel drive vehicles will gather from across the country for a powerhouse off-road weekend. Monsters will include: Avenger, Lucas Oil Bigfoot, Dan Runte 25th Anniversary Bigfoot, The General, Raminator, Ramunittion and many more.

Backing the Motorhead’s events will be awesome music by groups such as the Chicago alternative hard rock trio Chevelle, performing April 8 at the Historic Gillioz Theater. And rock fans are expected to pack the Gillioz again on June 26 for a red-hot performance by the iconic REO Speedwagon.
