Friday nights to most Inland Empire motorcycle riders mean heading home and cleaning rounding up a friends and ride to an event, meal or other activity.
As I was standing near the line for beer taking a picture the banner under the tent at Riverside Harley I noticed a lot of people were taking part on this Friday night event. They were here taking part in the Hot Rods and Harleys Bike Night. The beer was priced at one dollar with a limit of four per guest and they did sell out before the night was done.
My bike night turned out a little different than usual I didn't bring my usual ton of camera gear I kept meeting and running into people I know. I ran into Sonny Walukow who I know from the Loma Linda Harley Owners Group (LLHOG) taking pictures of the new 2015 Road Glide and Road Glide Special. The Road Glide was stopped for a year or so but is back after receiving the Rushmore Project makeover. The Road Glide is a popular touring model. Walking around I ran into some members of the Riverside Geezers MC checking the bikes. I also ran into Jay and Sharon of Jay Gordon's Blues Venom. They told me they will be playing on Riverside Harley's Ultimate Bike Night scheduled for September 26, 2014..
I took a few minutes to talk with Sharon Bridges after she gone done lugging out a case of beer. Sharon is the lady who makes sure the West Coast Thunder takes place every Memorial Day. Proceeds from the sales of the beer is going towards West Coast Thunder and Riverside National Cemetery.
Outside eight custom cars of various makes and years took part in the Hot Rod show and a similar number of motorcycles took part in the ride in show. The winner got a trophy and a one hundred dollar gift card.
During the whole bike night the High Life Trio known for Rockabilly, they played many of their songs and they also played songs from other artist such as Johnny Cash, Eddies Cochran.
One contest taking place was as to who had a Harley-Davidson Dealer T shirt farthest away from Riverside. I saw shirts from Bahrain, Thailand, New Zealand, Australia, Israel and Indonesia. The winner got a fifty dollar Riverside Harley Davidson Gift Card and a Dealer T shirt.
During all this activity you could your haircut and/or a shave from the Riverside Shave Co.
The food was Tri-Tip Sandwiches. Provided by Smokin’ Willies.
And the end of the bike night the burn out contest took place in the back corner of the dealership and the contestants made lots of smoke to the cheers of the crowd especially when you hear the pop of the tire blowing.
