Sue Bird was born on October 16, 1980 in Syosset, New York, on Long Island. Sue Bird was a natural athlete growing up, and in addition to playing basketball she also played tennis, soccer and track.

After playing two years of basketball at Syosset High School, Sue Bird wanted to really challenge herself and she played her final two years in high school at Christ the King High School in Queens in New York City. Christ the King went 24-3 in Sue Bird's junior year, and then went undefeated and won the New York State basketball title her senior year.

After that, Sue Bird was heavily recruited by colleges, and she chose to go to UConn. Sue suffered a torn ACL midway through her freshmen season, but after that she led UConn to two NCAA Championships in 2000 and 2002.

When UConn won the NCAA Championship in Sue Bird's senior season in 2002, the team went undefeated with a perfect 39-0 record. From Sue Bird's sophomore season through her senior season, the UConn Huskies had an overall record of 107-4 (.964).

After college, Sue Bird was taken with the first overall pick in the 2002 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm. So far in her WNBA career, Sue Bird has been an all-star seven times, and led the Seattle Storm to two WNBA Championships (2004, 2010).

In her WNBA career, Sue Bird has averaged 12.6 points and 5.5 assists per game. In addition to her stellar high school, collegiate and WNBA career, Sue Bird also helped lead the United States women's basketball team to gold medals at the Olympics in 2004, 2008, and 2012.

Sue Bird has also played internationally in Europe, mainly in Russia. Many of the best WNBA players play professionally in Europe during the off-season because they can make more money playing in Europe.

There is no question that Sue Bird is lock-city to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame when she is eligible. Hope you enjoy the photos of Sue Bird in the slideshow. Watch for Sue at Seattle Storm games this season.
