Hot photos of WNBA basketball star Becky Hammon in 2014

Becky Hammon was born on March 11, 1977, in Rapid City, South Dakota. Becky was a star basketball player in high school at Stevens High School in Rapid City.

As a junior, Becky Hammon was such a good basketball player at Stevens she was named South Dakota Miss Basketball. As a senior, Becky was even better, as she averaged 26.0 points per game and was voted South Dakota Player of the Year.

Major league baseball player Mark Ellis was in Becky Hammon's graduating class at Stevens High School in 1995. That's pretty good for any high school to have two eventual pro athletes graduating from the same class, especially in a low population state like South Dakota.

After high school, Becky Hammon played college basketball for the Colorado State Rams. Becky had a great career at Colorado State, scoring 2,740 points, and averaging 21.92 points per game. As a senior, Becky led Colorado State to a 33-3 record including to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

Unbelievably, Becky Hammon was not drafted in the 1999 WNBA Draft. Instead, she signed a free agent contract with the New York Liberty, and made the team as a backup to Teresa Weatherspoon.

Over her first five seasons with the Liberty, Becky Hammon only started 19 out of 137 games. New York then finally figured out Becky could play, and she started 88 out of 90 games for the rest of her career with the Liberty.

In 2007, the New York Liberty traded Becky Hammon to the San Antonio Stars (Sliver Stars back then). Becky is in her eighth season with the Stars in 2014, and for her entire WNBA career she has averaged 13.3 points per game.

In 2009, Becky Hammon averaged a career best 19.5 points per game. Becky has made six all-star games so far in her WNBA career, and made the All-WNBA second team twice (2005, 2008).

In addition to playing in the WNBA, Becky Hammon has also played many seasons in Europe, mostly in Russia. In 2008, after being snubbed by Team USA, Becky Hammon played for Russia in the Olympics, and helped lead the team to a bronze medal.

Becky Hammon has always been a fan favorite wherever she played. I always rooted for her when she played for the New York Liberty.

Hope you enjoy the hot photos of Becky Hammon in the slideshow. Watch for Becky at Stars WNBA games this season.
