Online job trends
It is very interesting to look at job trends not only as someone looking for work but from the perspective of a consumer as well. What's hot reflects products and services that are currently popular in the marketplace and may give you some insight into your decision making.
Freelancer.com states that "If Android work continues at this growth rate, it will surpass the iPhone category by the end of 2012."
Android work continues to outpace Apple. Android jobs are up a solid 20%. Probably a good sign for those looking to buy an Android based smart phone, as it would appear there are a lot of Android based applications being developed.
Understanding HTML5
For someone just starting out in a career as a webmaster the various languages of the internet can be a confusing mix of acronyms and buzz words.
HTML is an acronym for Hypertext Markup Language. The concept of a Markup Language dates back to the 1960s developed by IBM to enable the sharing of machine readable documents. HTML is the basic building block of webpages. The HTML standards are administered by the the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
The current version HTML 4.01 has not been updated since 2000. The evolution of HTML to the spin off language XHTML 2.0 has stalled over the last few years.
Although still using the HTML acronym, version HTML5 leaves behind many of the characteristics of the old style markup language. HTML5 focuses on multimedia integration as well as standardizing the technologies that are common in smartphone web applications.
