Time for Playwright’s Round Table (PRT) to put on its Summer Shorts. Running from August 13 through 22, in Winter Park, Florida, playwrights and locals get to see new plays come to life. This is a great time to kick back and see what local artists are doing before summer ends. It’s hot, hot, hot…
A Different Type, by David Strauss, shows a man gathering his courage to try out his best moves on the most beautiful woman he's ever met. The play is directed by Paul Castaneda and stars Brett P. Carson, Tara Corless, and Channing Ogzewalla.
Belief, by Al Pergande, finds two Christian missionaries in a crisis-of-faith stew as their captors debate the value their shrunken heads will fetch. Belief is directed by Leesa Halstead and stars Kevin Sigman, Nicole A. Carson, Clare Ghezzi, and Andrew Hakimipour.

Finger Food, by Dean Lundquist, is built on the premise of two utensils debating their place in the world, while waiting for the much anticipated use of their services. The play is directed by Ash Thomas and stars Ash Thomas and Hayes Schardt.
Grandpa Henry and the Assisted Living Facility of Doom, written by Alex Carroll, concerns a certain retired archaeology professor and his granddaughter when they discover danger in the most unlikely place. The play is directed by Nicole Carson and stars Eric Kuritzky, Clare Ghezzi, and Kimberly Luffman.
Somewhere Between the Sky and the Sea, written by Alex Broun, regards a the unhappy choice a composer has of choosing between the women he loves. This one’s directed by Laura Lippmann and stars Josh Geoghagan, Sarah Lockard, and Kelly Mayer.
Sorry I'm Late, written by Larry Stallings about the well-known Wally Doogan making a special guest appearance at a community theatre's auditions. Sorry I’m Late is directed by Mary Lee Stallings and stars Larry Stallings, Marcie Schwalm, and Ash Thomas.
The Commission, by Michael Garvey, is about a few gentlemen ‘in the business’ kick around ideas on how best to shill Floridians out of their hard-earned cash. The Commission is directed by Erik Morris and stars Brett P. Carson, Joe Glass, George Zanata, Kevin Sigman and Hayes Schardt.
Summer Shorts run Thursday – Saturday, August 13 – 15 and, Thursday – Saturday, August 22 – 23. All performances start at 8 pm and take place at the Greater Orlando Actors’ Theatre, 669 Cherry Street, Winter Park, Florida 32789. Order of listing is alphabetical and does not indicate the order in which the shorts will appear.
