We think you're near Los Angeles

Hot Hawaiian summer attractions

Happy, hot Fourth of July? Temperatures are rising in the valleys and inland cities here in Los Angeles. Beaches from Malibu to Long Beach are filled with bodies seeking to stay cool on the shores of the Pacific.

No different in Hawaii. The locals crowd the beaches back home on summer weekends, especially during holidays such as the Fourth of July. Hot summer weather will bring the crowds to the beaches.

Other elements that tend to bring Hawaiians and Hawaiians at heart together: food, music and dance.

No different here in Los Angeles. We have Hawaiian Ho'olauleas, Ho'ikes, and local restaurants serving up a mixture of food, music and dance. These all add up to having a cool summer time.

If you've missed some of this summer's events, there's more coming your way:  Halau Keali'i O Nalani, 20th Anniversary Ho'ike, Saturday, July 9, 20ll at the El Camino College Marsee Auditorium in Torrance (call 310 479-6767 for info); Alondra Park Ho'olaulea, July 16,17, 2011 in Lawndale, near Gardena, and Long Beach Ho'olaulea, August 20, 2011, Long Beach.

Beat the heat, Hawaiian style!
