Hot Dogs in OKC: Coney Island dogs are winners

This hot dog hot spot opened for business in 1929. That alone tells you something about its food and the reputation it has for serving the best tasting hot dogs in town. You can eat inside the Coney Island restaurant, no frills and often crowded, or you can order your food to take-out. A line of customers begins to form around 11:30 each morning but it moves quickly and wait time is normally short. Menu items consist of, but are not limited to:

Hot Dog - A Coney Island hot dog with a bright red outer covering. Some hot dog aficionados feel that a dog of this type fits into the “Chicago-style” category. Served on a regular hot dog bun, a foot-long wiener is available, with mustard, relish, and chopped onion is standard fare.

Frito Pie - A plate of hot Fritos topped with "no beans" hot chili, chopped onion and a covering of cheese. Frito pie is a very popular menu item.

Greek Spaghetti - A mound of freshly cooked thick spaghetti, two wieners, with a heap of chili, onions, and cheese ladled over the top. Hot and steamy!

Bowl of Chili - Served in a bowl or cup, hot and yummy; with or without chips.

Chili Dog - A regular or foot long hot dog, with your choice of garnishes, and topped with hot chili. Coney Island staff allow the chili meat to drain so your chili dog bun doesn't get overly soggy.

Note: Food is served cafeteria style. If you wish to visit Coney Island restaurant early in the morning or later in the afternoon you should call first as the hours of operation vary. Cash only, no credit cards are accepted.
