Hot Chelle Rae recently released their new single "Hung Up," the lead single from their upcoming third album due out later this year. The band says the song, which is starting to pick up steam on US top 40 radio (it's currently at #49 on the Mediabase Top 40 charts), is unlike any of the songs they've released before.
"It's a great first song," band member Jamie Follese said about the song in a recent interview with FOX17 in Nashville.
"We've released a lot of songs about having a good time and forgetting about your ex and stuff like that but this is the first kind of love song that is uptempo," brother and band-mate Ryan Follese added.
How did the song come to be the single though? Turns out they wrote it over a year ago and had kinda put it on the back shelf.
"We're always writing on the road and it kinda made its way back around," Ian Keaggy said about the song. "It had been there for awhile, we had written tons of new songs, did demos and we're focusing on different songs and we're like 'what about this song Hung Up?'"
The song is the lead single from their upcoming new album, which the band hopes to release later this year. But it looks like they still got some writing to do to make it perfect.
"We have like 60 songs written, we love maybe 5 of them so we're gonna keep on writing," Nash Overstreet said.
"I can't tell you much about the album but it's gonna be exciting," Ryan Follese added.
