Hostage Calm and Anti Flag release split EP

Every so often our tiny state produces musicians that catch the attention of the Nation. Most of them however, end up moving to the left coast and never really acknowledge their roots. For now Hostage Calm is not one of them. These Connecticut home-grown punk rockers are loud and proud about being from the Constitution State and the punk scene has embraced their old school-yet melodic style of the genre. So much so that they caught the eye and ear of one of the biggest legends of their scene-Anti Flag.

In 2012 Anti-Flag played some of the European festival junket with Hostage Calm and also released their LP "The General Strike". 2013 marks Anti Flag's 20th anniversary. In celebration the band will do a West Coast tour next month. Hostage Calm recently completed the "Please Remain Calm" tour which was a huge success. The album was released in October 2012.

The new split 7" from Hostage Calm and Anti-Flag is dropped on Tuesday via Run For Cover Records and the newly relaunched A-F Records. You can stream the record here: http://runforcoverrecords.bandcamp.com/album/hostage-calm-anti-flag-split-7 or listen to it on Spotify who just announced the EP's availability this morning. Digital copies are available on iTunes and you can also purchse physical copies at Run For Cover.

The split features one new song from each band pressed on three beautiful combinations of red, white and blue splatter with an etched b-side. Proceeds from record sales will go to benefit two charities based in each band's hometown. The bands chose to benefit these two organizations:

Assemble is an open physical space in an urban neighborhood in Pittsburgh. Their goal is "to unite artists, technologists, and makers with our neighbors of all demographics as well as provide a platform for experiential learning, opening creative processes and building confidence through making."

Music Haven is New Haven-based string quartet focused on building "a vibrant urban community through performance and music education that empowers young people, their families, and professional musicians."

Both bands will be on tour this March supporting the split release and their recent full-lengths.
