The 49ers made the bay area proud once again, solidifying their place in the 2013 Superbowl against the Ravens. Be a savvy Superbowl party host with these fun ideas that will engage children in the big game:
1. Learn the plays.
Help your kids understand what the big game is about by reading football related books to them before the big game. Try Kick the Football, Charlie Brown! adapted by Judy Katschke, Gunner, Football Hero by James E. Ransome, or T is for Touchdown: A Football Alphabet by Brad Herzog.
2. Incorporate little games into the big game.
Help your little football fans stay interested in the football game by incorporating games they are already familiar with. Try games like “I spy” and BINGO. For Bingo, create your own bingo cards before the game with jersey numbers, coaches and players faces, or yardage in the boxes.
3. Put on your own half time show.
Adults will love watching the kids perform a rock concert, magic show, puppet show or dance-off at half time! Load kids up with costumes and props and let their imaginations take over for their big performance.
4. Feed the masses.
Every great Super Bowl party includes memorable food. Your little ones can help you prepare this amazing 3 pepper Colby Jack Cheese dip before the game-then just pop it in the oven when the grazing begins:
(Serves 8)
- 1 cup Mayonnaise
- 4 oz Cream cheese, softened
- 8 Scallions, chopped finely
- 8 slices Boar's Head Fully Cooked Bacon, prepared crispy to package directions
- 1 cup 3 Pepper Colby Jack™ Cheese, shredded
- 1 cup Chipotle Gouda Cheese, shredded
- Pre-heat oven to 350° F.
- Finely dice the cooked bacon.
- In large bowl, mix together the Colby Jack, Gouda, mayonnaise, cream cheese and scallions (~½ cup).
- Place in an oven safe baking dish and cook for 15-20 minutes, until warmed through and cheese is melted. Stir before serving and garnish with crispy chopped bacon.
Enjoy the game!
