Two people were shot, one fatally, in a shootout over the weekend in southwest Atlanta. And on Sunday police charged the survivor with the 21-year-old man’s death.
Mr. Nicholas Corwin Sanders, 22, was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and obstruction of a law enforcement officer, according to Atlanta police.
On Monday, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased male as Mr. Xavier Shivers of Union City.
It’s unclear how the two men knew each other and what prompted the shooting. Police have also not released any details on the circumstances of what happened.
Around 7:30 p.m. they responded to 3612 Ginnis Road after getting a call about two persons shot, police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.
When they arrived, they found one man with a gunshot wound to the chest and another who had been grazed in the head. Both were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where Mr. Shivers was pronounced dead.
The arrest warrants were served on Mr. Sanders while he was still receiving treatment at the hospital Sunday, police said.
