Volunteers are needed to help the Horse Protection Society of NC and the Rocking Horse Ranch. There are both morning and afternoon times available, 7 days a week.
The Horse Protection Society of North Carolina, Inc., provides an avenue for abused, abandoned, starved and neglected horses. As reported in the Charlotte Observer on January 13, the Rocking Horse Ranch will provide permanent retirement care for abandoned horses.
If horse owners can no longer care for their equines, the Horse Protection Society will place them with the Rocking Horse Ranch in China Grove where the horse will spend the rest of its days.
Because the ranch has had as many as 40 horses at one time, a larger facility is desperately needed and donations are greatly appreciated.
The Horse Protection Society also investigates cases of abuse and neglect. Trained investigators will help the owners learn how to properly care for their horses. Prosecution is only used as a last resort.
Come join the Horse Protection Society of NC on Saturday, January 19 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. A tour will be provided, you can meet the horses and also sign up to be a volunteer.
There will also be a repeat open house on January 26 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. as well.
The address is 2135 Miller Road, China Grove, NC and the phone number is 704-855-2978. You may also email questions to hps@horseprotection.org or check out the website at http://www.horseprotection.org/
