Horses are in the spotlight at Lebanon, Ohio's Horse-Drawn Carriage Parade

If you love horses and you love Christmas then you don't want to miss the chance to see the visual spectacle that awaits at the 25th annual Lebanon Antique Horse-Drawn Carriage Parade being held on Saturday, December 7 in Lebanon, Ohio. It's a long drive from Cleveland -- 3.5 hours -- but if you are a fan of all things equine then it is definitely worth the trip.

The Lebanon Antique Horse-Drawn Carriage Parade This family-oriented event features more than 100 decorated antique carriages pulled by a multitude of horse breeds including Clydesdales, Percherons and even miniature horses. The event actually includes two parades -- the 1 p.m. daytime parade and the 7 p.m. candlelit parade.

The evening parade features carriages covered in battery-powered Christmas lights while throngs of people holding candles line the streets of the parade route and watch the 100 antique horse-drawn carriage pass by.

The event also features carolers, live entertainment, a live nativity, storytelling and photos opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus. And don't miss the chance to take a train ride on the North Pole Express.

In addition, after the afternoon parade, visitors will have the chance to visit more than 50 antique and specialty stores that will be opening for browsing and shopping. Tours will also be available of the Glendower Historic Mansion Museum where costumed interpreters will give you the history of the mansion which will be decked out in all its holiday finery.

Hours for the Lebanon event are 10 a.m. - 8 p.m with the parades occurring at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Admission is free and parking is free.
