When you think of abused or neglected animals, dogs and cats are the most common that come to mind. Although this is true, humans seem to forget about another loyal and fantastic companion; horses. Equines are often abused and neglected just as much as felines and canines. Horses need to be rescued, sheltered and cared for as well. Horse Creek Rescue is the epitome of saving horses in Florida.
Horse Creek is nestled in the woods outside of Barberville, FL and features 40 acres of rich land suited for the caring of horses. They’re dedicated to the recovery of abandoned and mistreated horses. They currently have 29 horses in their care.
Horse Creek’s mission is to prevent equine abuse by providing educational techniques in natural horse awareness. They rescue, retrain, retire or rehabilitate equine to preserve and enhance their quality of life.
The rescue offers an adoption and sponsorship program. Sponsorship allows you to choose a horse and contribute to their care and feeding. The horse will be stabled at Horse Creek and the sponsor is free to visit anytime. Some of the equine rescued at Horse Creek are available for adoption. Many may never be ridden again and are only suitable as companions, while others will remain in their retirement program.
If you’re interested in contributing to the welfare of a rescued horse or have the ability to adopt, please visit Horse Creek’s website provided earlier in this article. Thank you.
