Horror songster and ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons comes to The Colony, Texas

A deity descended on The Colony, Texas today. A rock deity that is, and his name is Billy Gibbons.

For those unaware, Mr. Gibbons is the guitarist for and one third of the immortal rock band ZZ Top.

He along with bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard  have been gracing Texas and the world with thunder hard ZZ Top sound since their self titled ‘ZZ Top’s First Album’ was released in 1971.

Their music has touched all walks of life. Even horror has incorporated it. The 1994 Stephen King miniseries ‘The Stand’ had the band’s song ‘Sharp Dressed Man’ on its soundtrack, and the 2007 Nicholas Cage movie ‘Ghost Rider’ had ‘Tush’.

Mr. Gibbons was sans his band mates in The Colony, as he took part in a promotional autograph signing for Pura Vida Tequila at the Goody Goody liquor store on Paige road and 121.

He is the spokesperson for the drink, and has been travelling to different cities doing autograph signings to help get the word out on it.

So being the hard rock loving horror hound that I am, I went to go check out the event for myself.

Besides bottles of the Tequila, Mr. Gibbons signed albums, pictures, and very cordially greeted fans.

A friend of mine went home and got his sunglasses so that he could pose in a photo with Mr. Gibbons wearing them.

A decent crowd paid homage to Mr. Gibbons, and went home with Tequila on their breath.

In the end, a good time was had by all.
