One of the dying genres in young adult fiction is horror, more specifically, horror comics. Back in the 1950s and '60s they were all the fad. Horror comics express scary stories with a twisted sense of humor. They have been an inspiration for some of the most renown horror authors of today. These authors include Stephen King, and Jonathan Maberry among many others.
As the years tick by the idea of comics are most easily related to superheros, or the funnies in the Sunday newspaper. People have forgotten a genre of comic as if it slipped into the great abyss. Could they be making a comeback? Especially with Halloween 2013 rapidly approaching, teens are scouring the shelves for thrills. What better way to pump their veins with adrenaline than through horror comics? This could go far beyond Halloween.

One of the most promising magazines is Evil Jester. Promised to set a new standard in horror comics, the publication date for the first issue is yet to be announced. The lineup of authors is phenomenal and just what might needed to send readers running, teens to hide under the covers as they flip through the pages with a flashlight in hand.
Beware: ghosts, ghouls, zombies, werewolves, and vampires lurk in the shadows... these comics could very well bring them out!
