Valley cinephiles will find it easier to embrace their inner-horrorholic or sci-fi fanatic this year as the International Horror and Sci-fi Film Festival will be held concurrently with the Phoenix Film Festival.
The 11th Annual Phoenix Film Festival will kick off Thursday, March 31 and run through Thursday, April 7 at Harkins Scottsdale 101, 7000 E. Mayo Blvd.
“We are thrilled that the festival will now be featured as part of the Phoenix Film Festival,” IHSFF director Andrea Beesley-Brown stated. “I believe it opens the IHSFF up to a whole new audience and lends itself for great opportunities.”
The IHSFF showcase lineup includes “Tucker and Dale vs. Evil,” a dark comedy starring Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine; “Stake Land,” a post-apocalyptic vampire flick starring Danielle Harris; and “Hisss,” a science-fiction thriller based on the Far Eastern myth of the snake woman.
“I Am Nancy,” a documentary in which Heather Langenkamp (Nancy in “A Nightmare on Elm Street”) attempts to overcome the shadow of Freddy Krueger will also screen during the festival, with Langenkamp on hand for a signing and Q-and-A.
Meanwhile, the IHSFF competition lineup includes “Absentia,” “The Mole Man of Belmont Avenue,” “Midnight Son” and “Triple Hit.”
The 11th Annual Phoenix Film Festival takes place March 31-April 7 at Harkins Scottsdale 101, 7000 E. Mayo Blvd. Tickets, which range in price from $10 for a single screening to $250 for a VIP package, are currently available on the Phoenix Film Festival Web site and will be also sold throughout the event at the Phoenix Film Festival Welcome Center next to Harkins Scottsdale 101.
