As we head into Pisces for the next month, the emphasis is on spiritual practice because Pisces is the Zodiac sign that rules spirituality.
Daily routines of meditation, prayer, worship, singing, chanting, and/or relaxation breathing are essential for spiritual development and extremely helpful for become clearer, calmer secular creatures, too.
The Fish
According to the brilliant astrologer, Isabel Hickey:
The symbol for Pisces is two fish tied together symbolizing the path this sign travels through life on as the inner self prepares to be dissolved of its personality and give way to the soul.
One fish represents the personality and the other fish represents the soul. Linked by a cord, each fish is attempting to swim in the opposite direction.
One must become the master in order to swim the waters of life, and it is here that the motto associated with this energy pattern, “serve or suffer,” is actualized.
The Fish is the most misunderstood of all the signs.
Famous Fish
George Washington, Albert Einstein, Elizabeth Taylor, Steve Jobs, Frederic Chopin, Jackie Gleason, Handel, Rex Harrison, Michelangelo, Jeff Daniels, Edgar Cayce, Karen Carpenter, John Steinbeck, and Jim Backus were all born while the Sun was in Pisces.
Remember, there's no such thing as a cusp sign. If your birthday falls between the 18th and 24th of the month, please consult a qualified astrologer for accurate Sun sign designation.
Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 20): You tend to rush in where angels fear to tread, not out of courage, necessarily, though, yes, you are quite brave, but often due to impatience and an unwillingness to allow events to mature on their own. It’s one thing to move yourself where you want to be, but avoid dominating others and their situations.
Taurus (Apr. 21 – May 20): Insistence on being right creates apprehension in others about discussing matters openly and honestly with you. Do you want to be right or do you want to be loved?
Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Emotions may not be your strong suit, but they are a natural human experience. Allow others the expression of feelings without shutting them down out of discomfort by realizing there is nothing to do or fix; sometimes, a few minutes of sincere listening is all that is needed. Trying to stop emotions is like trying to stop a mud slide.
Cancer (June 21 – July 20): It might be hard at times to separate what you feel from what you think. Clear the mind by releasing energy in the body through exercise, dance, gardening or any physical activity, and then you’ll have a clearer picture of your thinking and feeling.
Leo (July 21 – Aug. 20): Idealism is a double-edged sword: you see how life could be, how people should be, and you imagine a better world, etc., but then, when reality crashes in your big heart gets broken and you retreat, angrily, turning that anger in on yourself. Love what is. Try.
Virgo (Aug. 21 – Sept. 20): Your ability to point out the fly poop in the pepper isn’t as widely appreciated by others as you might imagine, but your helpfulness is necessary – try a scosche of tact; a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down!
Libra (Sept. 21 – Oct. 20): You are a Libran so that you can learn to balance the world of appearance (the personality) with the inner world of reality (the soul). You may want to be all things to all people, but it’s not realistic.
As Havelock Ellis said: “All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.”
Scorpio (Oct. 21 – Nov. 20): Your resourcefulness will be needed this week by someone close to you; share your wisdom and insights – some people do listen!
Sagittarius (Nov. 21 – Dec. 20): Gamble on something meaningful this week: people. Take a chance and let someone who cares about you get close to you; you may trade a scosche of freedom, but you gain love and companionship.
Capricorn (Dec. 21 – Jan. 20): Check your values and be clear about your motives when it comes to others and their role in your life; don’t use people as footsteps toward your goals.
Aquarius (Jan. 21 – Feb. 20): A dash of eccentricity makes you curious and unique; too much just makes you too out of step with those around you. Be yourself, but don’t resist fitting in and being one of the crew.
Pisces (Feb. 21 – Mar. 20): Don’t fall prey to martyrdom; self-assertion does not have to be aggressive or unfair – simply express what you feel and what you want as best you can; it's challenging, but beats a pity party.
