Horoscopes and the Zodiac for the week ahead: Feb. 11 - 16, 2013

The last leg of Aquarius’ tour this week looks like smooth sailing with lots of Pisces and Aquarius energies blending peacefully and playfully. These next door neighbors enjoy each other's innate zaniness.

How is an Air sign a Water Bearer?

There’s a fair amount of confusion about the symbol for Aquarius, the Water Bearer, and its elemental classification of Air.

My answer is: there are lots of ambiguities in life and astrologically, mostly with Aquarius! For example, why does a wise man and a wise guy mean the opposite? Why do we deplane, but we don't deboat?

I learned that the waves that appear to be water pouring out from the pot are actually electrical waves representing intuition, ruled by Aquarius, and, thereby, accurately representing the Air element.

Aquarians are very intuitive and without trying can see 50 years into the future. Always listen to your Aquarian friends! Even they don’t know what they’re talking about sometimes, but they’re usually right.

The brilliant astrologer, Isabel Hickey, in Astrology, A Cosmic Science, says:

Aquarius represents the “clear crystal electric air of winter.” Aquarians are the mental pioneers, the forward thinking individuals who live in the future and not in the past.

Like its symbol which suggests its nature to be water, but is the waters of intuition, or currents of energy, Aquarius is unpredictable and unexpected.

Aquarius and its ruler, Uranus, want to change the world by bringing new ideas to old conditions.

Wikipedia (more often than not the most reliable source of information):

On early Babylonian stones, the astrological symbol for Aquarius was depicted as a man or boy pouring water from a bucket or urn.

Ancient Arabian astrologists omitted the human figure, with a mule carrying two water-barrels representing the constellation. The constellation Aquarius is not conspicuous; its fainter set of stars being those which are typically depicted as the "water running down into the mouth of the Southern fish."

Corax.com tells us this about Aquarius:

Hapi as the god of the Nile, bringing fertility to the land, pouring out the rains to make the earth blossom.

Quenching the thirst of humanity

One theory about this seeming inconsistency is that Aquarians, as the humanitarians of the Zodiac, quench the thirsts of humanity. This romantic notion is sweet, but not scientifically or astrologically accurate.

In all fairness, however, because it's often hard to see the forest for the trees and as an Aquarian, it's hard not to poke at the romantic theory, another way of putting it might be the way this astrologer has (I cannot remember the source of this statement):

The astrological symbol for Aquarius is the figure of a man pouring water. The water is seen as mankind's collective consciousness. It depicts Aquarians as disseminators (scatterers) of the spirit of humanity. Many Aquarians, in tune with their celestial heritage, are idealists who champion the highest principles to which humanity can aspire.

Horoscopes this week:

Aries (Mar. 21 – Apr. 20): Let your self-confidence soar through deepening your internal connections and dismissing feelings of inadequacy. Focus on your talents, express your strengths and don’t compete with others. Each hub on the wheel is necessary for the bike to move steadily.

Taurus (Apr. 21 – May 20): Your basic lessons in life have to do with acquiring a true sense of values. “Render unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and unto God what belongs to God.” There is no fear of loss when there is no desire to possess.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Nervousness is caused by the person in the body giving the body a hard time. Your preoccupation with yourself is at the root of your difficulties. Edgar Cayce says the solution to worry and fear is to give to others. When we focus on others we aren’t focusing on ourselves; this can be both negative or positive. The key, of course, is in the timing!

Cancer (June 21 – July 20): Deepen your connection to your inner center and operate from that place, instead of repeatedly re-acting to what is going on ‘out there.’ Begin each day with a centering time to align yourself to your truest place using prayer, meditation, affirmations, mantras, song, or simply sitting for a few minutes to still your waters.

Leo (July 21 – Aug. 20): When Leo becomes lovingly impersonal and gives their warmth and affection to all, they come into their inheritance. Of all the signs, you cannot live for yourself alone. All energy and power come from the Sun, Leo’s ruler, but light and power can scorch or warm, create or destroy. Thy will, not my will, be done.

Virgo (Aug. 21 – Sept. 20): Virgo represents the hidden divinity in every person; the seed planted in earth, that must root in darkness and through struggle break its sheath (Virgo’s symbol) and struggle toward the light.

Libra (Sept. 21 – Oct. 20): Your strong sense of justice and will to do good will be called upon this week – be preprayed! Those around you need your tactfulness and conscientiousness.

Scorpio (Oct. 21 – Nov. 20): Pride prevents you from showing your emotions like the rest of us mere mortals; you have tremendous strength and power when you rise above your personality reactions. Holding back natural responses to life misuses vital energy that can be constructively and creatively used for good for everyone – including you.

Sagittarius (Nov. 21 – Dec. 20): Your good listening skills might need a dose of patience and tact, traits unnatural to your native disposition, as others might try to bend your ear farther than it naturally wants to go – keep a good spirit and sense of humor.

Capricorn (Dec. 21 – Jan. 20): Your natural dependability and confidence give others confidence – this is a wonderful leadership trait that not all of us possess. You are the brave, fearless mountain goat that perches itself in strong, hillside footholds that prevent the buffets in life from knocking you over.

Aquarius (Jan. 21 – Feb. 20): Happy Birthday! Great time to reset intentions, deepen connection to highest self, renew what’s been proven useful, and celebrate the unique creation of life that you are. Aquarius’ Zodiacal function is to awaken others out of old molds, old concepts and old patterns that have outgrown their usefulness. Follow your magnificent intuition.

Pisces (Feb. 21 – Mar. 20): Persistance pays off, Pisces, you must trust this from watching your Zodiacal siblings. Yes, you can always justify giving up, backing out or quitting. On the other side of persistence is your dream.

The backfield remains the same: the Awakener, Uranus (Aquarius' ruling planet) is in inspirational Aries; the Dissolver, Neptune, is in passive Pisces; the Transformer, Pluto, is in restrictive Capricorn.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Lincoln, on the 12th; Happy Valentine's Day to all on the 14th; Happy Chinese New Year to all those celebrating.
