The best view of New York is from the water, and what better way to see the Big Apple then with a glass of wine in hand? That's exactly what those seeking a romantic evening or night out with friends can do aboard a Hornblower Alive After Five Cruise.

Hornblower Cruises offers a range of sightseeing cruise packages aboard their fleet of new ships. The Alive After Five Cruise was aboard the Hornblower Hybrid, a sleek vessel with two levels of dining areas, dance floors, and bars.

The cruise left from Pier 15, near the historic South Street Seaport. The ship has open air decks for beautiful views and spectacular photo opportunities including the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.

This happy hour cruise had a deejay taking requests and a fully stocked bar. The wine that felt like the right fit for the lively event was Lunetta Prosecco. This crisp sparkling wine from northern Italy had bright acidity and fresh fruit flavors. At just 11 percent alcohol, it is a great wine for a two and half hour cruise, especially if one choose to walk on listing floors in high heels. It was a nice accompaniment to the selection of cheeses, grilled vegetables, and breads offered for refreshment.

Hornblower offers a wide range of cruises as well as private event packages. As the weather begins to warm in New York City, it's a great way to get off the beaten path and onto the water with friends.
