Four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday will compete in the season-opening truck race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, courtesy of a ride in the No. 30 Chevrolet entry of Turner Scott Motorsports. An announcement from TSM on Friday stated that Hornaday will drive the No. 30 truck for the team at Daytona. It'll be Hornaday's second start for Turner Scott Motorsports. He also drove a TSM entry in the 2013 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway soon after losing his ride with NTS Motorsports.
"I'm very excited and grateful to have support from Steve Turner, Harry Scott and the entire TSM organization," Hornaday said. "We worked great together in Miami and to have the opportunity to come to Daytona to start the year off, I'm just really looking forward to it. I wouldn't have this opporunity if it weren't for (sponsor) Rheem and their help. I think this is a winning comination that will give us a great chance to run up front and, hopefully, get a win."
Hornaday is the all-time wins leader in Camping World Truck Series, posting 51 race wins in 355 starts. He has driven trucks for teams including Dale Earnhardt Inc., Kevin Harvick Inc. and NTS Motorsports. Efforts are being made for a full-time deal between Hornaday and TSM for the remainder of the 2014 season.
"I'm really excited about having a four-time champion in one of our trucks," Turner Scott Motorsports co-owner Steve Turner said. "Both Ron's team and our team are working diligently to get a full-time deal put together for the 2014 season. Ron will bring great knowledge to the young drivers in our fleet. Wall feel like Ron is a class act, both on an off the track."
