HoQ to host Peace Tree Beer Dinner on February 26

Des Moines has grown quite enamored with the East Village's new sustainable farm-to-table phenom HoQ. Now that the restaurant has established itself as a stand-out dining experience, the culinary team has started scheduling special events. HoQ has set a Peace Tree Beer Dinner for Wednesday, February 26. Executive Chef Suman Hoque has designed a special five-course, farm-to-table menu complemented with brews from the Peace Tree Brewing Company in Knoxville. The dinner will be $65 per person, and reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at (515) 244-1213. Here is a look at Chef Hoque's menu, complete with Peace Tree beer pairings:

First Course

Squid Salad: Steamed squid with organic citrus vinaigrette on a bed of local organic greens

Drink Pairing: Blonde Fatale

Second Course

Beef Consommé: Grass-fed beef bones, hops, and mirepiox

Drink Pairing: Hop Sutra

Third Course

Chicken Galantine: Mary’s Farm & Garden deboned chicken stuffed with free-range duck liver, walnuts, cranberries, and sage

Drink Pairing: No Coast IPA

Fourth Course

Cory Farm Braised Beef: Organic grass-fed braised beef with roasted local beets, carrots, and parsnip puree; beer-braised cabbage and HoQ steak sauce

Drink Pairing: Barrel-Aged Red Rambler


Becky’s Imperial Stout Cake: Deep, dark organic chocolate cake and homemade Singing Dog vanilla bean ice cream

Drink Pairing: Black River Gumbo Stout
