Sustainable, farm-to-table East Village restaurant HoQ (303 E 5th Street) will be hosting an Iowa Dinner on Sunday, March 16. The dinner will start at 5:30 p.m., and it has limited seating. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the restaurant at (515) 244-1213. Executive Chef Suman Hoque is preparing three courses to be paired with three Iowa craft beers. The whole meal, drinks included, will be $40 per person.

Here is a look at the dishes Chef Hoque will be preparing for the Iowa Dinner:

First Course

Iowa Sweet Corn Bisque made with Iowa sweet corn and local cream and topped with herb oil

Second Course (vegetarian option available upon request)

Iowa Meatloaf made with Cory Farm organic grass-fed beef, served with local mashed potatoes, Maharishi Farm sautéed Swiss chard, and HoQ steak sauce

Leonard Farm Blackberry Cheese Cake made with organic cream cheese and a graham cracker crust

HoQ has received one glowing review after another, including one from this Examiner, so this should be an excellent and inexpensive opportunity for those that have not tried HoQ to experience Chef Hoque's farm-to-table cuisine first hand, as well as a chance to try three different Iowa craft beers.
