Beer fans in Sebastopol have long known the Hopmonk Tavern to be a place to go for good food, good music, and, most importantly, good beer. Now, Sonoma will get to experience the Hopmonk for themselves when Sonoma Hopmonk opens its doors later this summer.
The Hopmonk Tavern is a creation of Dean Biersch, formerly of Gordon Biersch. The Sebastopol location was modeled after the old Hoptown brewpub for Mendocino County Brewing. While Dean could tell you those Hopland meals might have "sucked", the Hopmonk promises to deliver a dining experience inspired by our local bounty.
The new location at 691 Broadway will feature 16 beers on tap which are set to rotate seasonally as well as a fully stocked bottled selection.
For entertainment, Sonoma Hopmonk Tavern will have acoustic-only music available in the front room as well as out in the back patio.
With Mondo and Sonoma Springs already set up in Sonoma and Olde Sonoma Pub set to open in Boyes Hot Springs, the Sonoma Valley's beer selection is growing rapidly. Sonoma County is earning a second name, this time as Beer Country.
"Hopland" was mistakenly posted as "Hoptown" previously. A mental error that has since been fixed.
