Hopmonk Sonoma Opens Its Doors

North of the Golden Gate, we’re often told that we live in “Wine Country,” a claim that is supported daily by the seemingly endless rows of grapes growing on Sonoma County hills. Along the 101 corridor, the wine gives way to a thriving craft beer culture featuring growing regional breweries as well as smaller breweries serving the local area. While Sonoma had clung to the wine image that seems to be changing as this small town of less than 10,000 people is quickly becoming a beer town with the opening of the latest Hopmonk Tavern.

Styled after the original location in Sebastopol, Hopmonk Sonoma is sure to feel familiar once you walk in the door. Splashes of orange remind you of where you are while rustic meets moderns styling for a hip yet approachable atmosphere. The tables and bar are made from salvaged bleachers and the floor is also a salvage project.

Sixteen taps are available to satisfy your thirst as is a full bottled selection. The menu is prepared by longtime Hopmonk chef Billy Reid with much of the same staff chipping in time at each location to make sure the new place is as familiar as the old.

Expanding on a theme started with The Abbey at Hopmonk Sebastopol, Hopmpnk Sonoma will also encourage musical performances with two stages, one indoor and one outdoor. The outdoor stage will function much as the stage at the Sebastopol beer garden while the indoor stage will feature an acoustic singer/songwriter series.

The grand opening for Hopmonk Sonoma is today, so be sure to swing by if you are in the area. Also, visit the newly redesigned website. Reservations will be accepted via Open Table just not on the opening night.
