Last week on Days, Sami and Nicole waited for EJ and Rafe to return to the apartment with Sydney’s birthday cake. Sami complimented Nicole bracelet, which Nicole admitted was a tracking device EJ made her wear. Sami was shocked Nicole would put up with that and said Nicole was completely insane. Nicole tried to defend herself by saying she loved Sydney and Johnny enough to put up with anything. Nicole started to leave, but Sami apologized and asked her to stay. Sami went to put Sydney in her party dress, but Nicole said she’d had a dress custom made for Sydney. Sami insulted Nicole’s dress, so Nicole “accidentally” spilled her beer on Sami’s dress
Fake Rafe and EJ returned to the party with the cake… and Stefano. Will quickly ushered the kids out of the room so Sami could confront Stefano. Sami tried to tell him to leave, but EJ jumped to his father’s defense. Roman arrived and was shocked to see Stefano at the party. Roman told Fake Rafe he’d been reinstated and congratulated him on working so hard on Hope’s case. Fake Rafe said he’d use his free time to recover from his accident. After the awkward Brady DiMera birthday party, Will and Gabi left for the movies and EJ took Nicole back to the mansion.
Nicole made martinis for her and EJ and they toasted to how well the party had turned out. Nicole said it was surreal being back at the mansion again. EJ asked her if she was happy and she said she was. EJ took off Nicole’s bracelet, saying he wanted to take the first step to trusting each other. He pulled Nicole in for a kiss. Nicole pulled away, asking what he was doing and reminding him that he still hated her for passing off Sydney as her own child. EJ said that his invitation had nothing to do with their arrangement and his feelings had changed. At first, Nicole declined his offer, but soon she was kissing him back. They went up to EJ’s bedroom where they slept together.
When they finished, Nicole lay with the sheets draped over her and gave EJ and awkward look. He suggested they discuss what they’d done over drinks. Nicole went downstairs wearing nothing but EJ’s shirt and made two martinis. On her way upstairs, the doorbell rang. Nicole opened the door to see Taylor there. Nicole reminded Taylor that she was supposed to be “long gone,” but Taylor once again pleaded with Nicole to reconsider. Nicole said they’d never have the kind of relationship sisters were supposed to have and encouraged her to go.
Back at Sami and Rafe’s, Fake Rafe convinced Sami that he was healthy enough for sex. Sami relented and afterward, lay on her side looking confused. Sami got up and left the room. Fake Rafe called EJ and told him not to worry, that he’d slept with Sami and she hadn’t noticed the difference. In the living room, Sami noticed a hickey on her neck and frowned. Just then, her sister Carrie called. Sami thanked Carrie for the birthday gift she and Austin sent Sydney. Carrie asked how Rafe was doing and Sami admitted that things were weird. Sami whispered that things were even different in the bedroom. Carrie said it was probably just from the accident. When they hung up, Sami realized Fake Rafe had heard her. Fake Rafe quickly blamed the combination of beer and pain pills for his behavior and Sami apologized for things being weird.
Stefano went to the basement to give Rafe some cake and discovered him passed out on the floor. Stefano woke Rafe up, trying to get him to eat cake from the party and telling him he needed to keep up his strength. Rafe asked why they were keeping him alive. Stefano explained that they needed information from him. Confused, Rafe asked why he would give them any information. Stefano held up a picture of Allie and said that if Rafe didn’t cooperate, they’d make Allie disappear. Rafe got upset while Stefano laughed.
EJ came down to the basement to give Rafe a blanket. Rafe asked if he’d really hurt Allie. EJ taunted Rafe, telling him what Allie was eating for dinner and what movie she was watching. Rafe realized they were having her watched. EJ made a call and minutes later, Fake Rafe appeared. Rafe stared at his doppelganger, stunned. Fake Rafe explained that he’d had plastic surgery and they’d changed his voice too. They wanted more time to have Rafe studied, Stefano said, but the accident proved too good of an opportunity to miss. As Fake Rafe turned to leave, Rafe called out, “What do you think they’re going to do with you when they’re done?” Fake Rafe looked troubled. Rafe said he obviously had no choice but to help them but warned Stefano that it would never work.
After having sex again the next day on the couch at the DiMera mansion, EJ told Nicole he’d come to respect her. He left, and Nicole remarked that respect was a start. As EJ walked along the pier, he bumped into Taylor. Taylor and EJ both turned around at the same time, smiling and gazing at each other.
Fake Rafe was alone at the Cheatin’ Heart drinking beer when Brady noticed him. Brady sat at Rafe’s table and asked why he was there. Fake Rafe said he’d stopped on his way home from work and that it was none of Brady’s business. Brady wondered why he was so defensive. Rafe continued to attack Brady’s character, grilling him about losing Nicole to EJ. Brady noticed Rafe was acting out of character. Fake Rafe said that since Nicole was back in their lives, he wanted to make sure nothing else was ruined for Sami. Brady said he wasn’t going to stay away from Sami’s kids, finished his drink and left.
Sami ran into Taylor outside the Brady Pub and asked if she was in town for Nicole’s wedding. Taylor explained that Nicole didn’t even want her in Salem. Sami encouraged Taylor to stay. Nicole came around the corner and told Sami to butt out. Sami and Nicole argued until Taylor yelled that she’d rather be on the first bus out of Salem than listen to those two. Taylor walked off, and Sami said Nicole could use a friend since she didn’t have a real relationship with EJ. Nicole said EJ had changed and that lately things between them were “kinda great.” Sami accused Nicole of being in love with EJ. Nicole denied it and more bickering ensued. Fake Rafe arrived and broke up the fight, insisting Sami not give EJ ammunition. Nicole left for a wedding dress fitting and Sami thanked Fake Rafe for calming her down.
Brady was walking along the pier when he tripped over Taylor’s suitcase. Brady apologized. Noticing his disheveled appearance, Taylor tried to give Brady some of the money Nicole had slipped her. Brady realized she thought he was homeless and said he’d just gotten off a transcontinental flight and had a few drinks, but he didn’t need her money. When Taylor insisted, Brady pulled out his gold card. Taylor apologized and Brady introduced himself. When she heard his name, Taylor said he used to date his sister, Nicole. Brady was disappointed to hear that Nicole reacted so negatively to her arrival and suggested she stay in town. When Brady walked away, Taylor said it was clear that Nicole needed her.
Carly went to see Jennifer at the hospital. Jennifer asked if jack had called and Carly said she didn’t think Julie was able to reach him. Carly apologized for leaving Jennifer alone in the prison infirmary. Jennifer refused to let Carly blame herself and said she’d thought Dr. Walters was a good guy. Jennifer admitted her brush with death had forced her to think about her life and that she had no idea what she’d do next. Carly said she felt the same and confessed that she and Bo broke up. Jennifer said that Carly and Bo’s relationship was very meaningful, even if it wasn’t forever. Carly said it felt good to do the right thing for Bo and Hope but she wasn’t sure she’d done the right thing for herself.
Jennifer asked Maxine to get Daniel for her. When Daniel entered the room, Jennifer thanked him for saving her life. Daniel said he’d simply done his job and Melanie deserved a lot of the credit. Jennifer said she owed him one. As he left the room, Daniel said, “I’m actually starting to see how much I owe you.”
Later, Daniel checked on Jennifer and found her struggling with a nurse because she was trying to leave her bed. Jennifer was frustrated because no one could tell her what happened with Hope. Daniel lectured her, saying it was critical she not experience stress. Nathan arrived and gave Jennifer a sedative, though she pleaded with him. Jennifer waited until everyone was gone before yanking out her tubes and climbing out of bed. She made it to the doorway of her room before collapsing in Daniel’s sight. Daniel gave her a stronger sedative. As the drug kicked in, Jennifer said she suddenly felt very warm towards Daniel. She called him a good guy and said there’d be no walkabouts for him. “You have a good heart, and thanks to you, so do I,” she said before passing out.
On Friday’s episode, Daniel was checking on Jennifer when Carly came to see her. Carly told Daniel she and Bo had split up before telling Jennifer she’d been subpoenaed to testify on Hope’s behalf and swore she’d do everything she could to keep her out of jail. Daniel said that was decent of her. Carly said when you love someone, you want them to be happy, even if it was with someone else. Carly began to cry and Daniel comforted her. Jennifer smiled as she watched them together.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Victor called his lawyer and screamed at him, asking if Vivian had somehow managed to remain in control of Titan. Brady returned and overheard Victor. Victor asked how his trip to Asia had gone and if the investors knew Vivian no longer had control of the company. Brady said they did. Victor explained that something was wrong, because someone was making strange investments. Victor assumed Vivian had somehow found a loophole in Brady’s documents. Brady said Vivian wasn’t buying the companies—he was. He’d had Vivian release the company to him. Victor called him a “Judas” and said he didn’t realize how right he was when he said Brady was a chip off the old block.
Chloe tried to talk to Daniel at the hospital about her therapy appointment, but he shut her out and told her to stop using her son to try and get him back. Chloe went to Maggie’s and told her the therapy session went well. Maggie saw right through it and Chloe admitted she saw Daniel and hew as cold to her. Chloe said all she’d ever wanted was a baby with the man she loved. She said she knew in her heart she loved Parker, but sometimes she didn’t think she could anymore. Chloe left the baby with Maggie to go get some fresh air.
Chloe was sitting on a bench at the park when Melanie ran into her. Melanie asked why she wasn’t taking care of her baby and said Parker deserved better than Chloe. Chloe said Phillip never would’ve come to her if he hadn’t seen Melanie and Nathan kissing and that she remembered who Melanie was before she’d become so perfect. Chloe stormed off. Melanie went back to Daniel’s apartment and called Kate. She said Kate was right, that Chloe was crazy, and they had to get Parker away from her. Chloe went back to Maggie’s, where Nicole stopped by and asked her to be Maid of Honor in her wedding to EJ. Chloe accepted. When Chloe forgot to heat up Parker’s bottle, Nicole reminded her and asked if she was OK.
“Why does everyone keep asking me that?” Chloe snapped, insisting that she was fine.
Later, Chloe baked cookies and talked to little Parker in his bassinette. The pharmacy called and told Chloe her prescription was ready. She looked over and realized Parker was asleep. Chloe realized that if she put Parker in the car, he’d wake up, but that the pharmacy was just a couple minutes away. She left her sleeping infant in Maggie’s kitchen with cookies baking in the oven. Later, Victor bumped into Chloe outside the Brady Pub and asked how Parker was. Chloe said he was fine. Then her eyes widened and she rushed off, arousing Victor’s suspicions.
At the police station, Hope told Bo she wasn’t scared to go back to prison but that she was terrified of telling Ciara goodbye again. Bo learned that the prosecutor in charge of Hope’s case was famous for imposing maximum sentences. Bo went to the Kiriakis mansion and asked Victor to pull some strings to make sure Hope went free. Victor said that Hope was even more straight laced than Bo when it came to the law and would’ve been furious if she knew what he was doing. Victor said he’d call the governor and politely ask for a pardon.
Back at the station, Bo learned Victor’s call had been unsuccessful. Hope thanked Bo for everything he’d done for her. Justin came in and announced that the hearing was about to start. After the hearing, Bo and Hope anxiously awaited the ruling. Justin returned and said that in light of Hope’s part in taking down the organ harvesting in the prison infirmary, her sentence had been reduced to time served. Hope hugged Bo and said he’d done so much for her.
“Yeah, because I love you,” Bo said. “Come on. Let’s go home.”
