Yesterday was a remarkable day for openness and transparency from the Obama administration. First the hidden birth certificate is released after three years. It must be small consolation to Lt. Col. Lakin who went to prison for questioning the same, that Trump managed what even Hillary could not. Then at a fund raiser in New York, Obama spelled out his vision for change in America. Before a select group of donors at the tony Waldorf Astoria Obama stated: that by trying to cut the deficit Republicans have a vision of a shrunken America.
Finally after three years and countless speeches we have seen what the hope and change promised will be. Obama’s vision is to change from the view of America that Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and the rest of the founding fathers gave us. So our president believes that America is not its people but the Government. So he hopes the change will be when the former servants become the masters.
We can add one more historic event to this presidency; we are no longer Government of the people, by the people for the people. According to the current administration America is the all powerful government. That any attempt to trim the waste, fraud or even size of the government is an assault on America. This from the same Obama that swore to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States of America.
This adds meaning and insight to Benjamin Franklin’s statement about our new government “We gave you a republic if you can keep it”.
