Indiana recruit and Park Tudor point guard Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell was named a McDonald’s All-American, becoming IU’s 26th recruit to earn the honor. He follows in the footsteps of current Hoosiers freshman Cody Zeller, who played in last year’s contest.
Ferrell was one of two players from the state named as a participant in the game. The other is Gary Harris of Hamilton Southeastern, who chose Michigan State ahead of Indiana, Purdue and Kentucky. He is averaging 17.8 points and 6.3 assist per game this season.
"Yogi is a very good student, outstanding player, he's a leader in his school and he's a winner, and he's done it during the high school season, he's done it during the summer seasons. He's been a winner at all levels, and I think when you have that, it says a lot about the character of him, so really proud of him," said Hoosiers head coach Tom Crean.
The McDonald’s All-America rosters were made public and Ferrell is part of the West team. He becomes the 18th player in Indiana history to be named to the team. The game will be held March 28th at the United Center in Chicago.
