For years the Hoodie Awards were held in Los Angeles and most recently in Las Vegas. This is the first year that Steve Harvey moved his awards to Hotlanta. The name has changed to the Neighborhood Awards. The awards were a vision of Steve Harvey and Rushion McDonald. Steve Harvey is a media mogul and comedian and Rushion McDonald is a television/radio and producer. Both men promoted the awards to honor people in their own neighbors for their outstanding service.

The 12th Annual Neighborhood Awards took place this past weekend, August 7-10, 2014, at the Georgia World Congress Center and Phillips-Arena, hosted by State Farm Insurance. Celebrities, entertainers and the Steve Harvey Nation were on hand for the event: John Legend, Sheryl Underwood, O’Jays, Kim, Robin Thicke, Johnny Gill, and many more made appearances.

Atlanta was well represented by icons, Frank Ski, business owner/radio personality, City Council President Caesar Mitchell, and Atlanta’s illustrious Mayor Kasim Reed and more. Many celebrities walked the Blue Carpet, waving at the crowd, shaking hands and taking selfies, on Saturday, August 9, 2014. The Neighborhood Award acknowledges and honors our heroes and leaders in our community. The Blue Carpet was sponsored by Ford Motor Company.
