Many people know personally the grief and emotional pain that can be experienced at the loss of a beloved pet. To help individuals through this process, Gail Heller, CH., PBCSC founded Chance's Spot Animals Pet Bereavement Counseling. This year, Chance’s Spot will sponsor the “Honoring the Animals Candlelight Vigil and Animal Blessing” (HTA) event on Sunday, September 14, 2014, which is National Pet Memorial Day.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, 2233 Woodbourne Avenue, Louisville, KY 40205.

This year, Chance's Spot will welcome a very special guest to the event, Joey Camen. Mr. Camen is a veteran stand-up comedian, voice talent, actor, award-winning short filmmaker, and author of the book "My Life with Snoopy." The book is a heartwarming story about his relationship with Snoopy the shelter dog.

In addition, Mr. Camen will sign copies of his book at the event and share his story of the comedy and calamity that ensued throughout his thirteen year friendship with Snoopy. The book signing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. before the candlelight vigil begins.

"I am very excited that Mr. Camen will be joining us, and I can't wait to have him share his story with everyone," said Gail Heller, director of Chance's Spot. "However, I do realize that many folks are too far away to attend HTA in person. So in addition to allowing individuals to have their pet's name listed in our memorial program book, we'll also be offering a memorial DVD of the event itself. The DVD will contain the slide show presentation along with an audio from HTA, including Mr. Camen and prayers from the candlelight vigil."

There is still time to submit your pet's name to the Honoring the Animals Memorial Program book. The deadline is Friday, August 15, 2014. Be sure to send a photograph of the pet as well to be included in the slide show introduction at the event and on the Memorial DVD. Find pricing and registration details on the Honoring the Animals website.
