The Honolulu Museum of Art is going through spring cleaning and holding a book sale and clearance sale this month.
BOOK SALE
The museum’s Robert Allerton Art Library holds its first book sale Friday, March 15, to Sunday, March 17. Available are more than 500 art-related books in excellent condition.
The bulk of the books are library duplicates on contemporary art and artists such as Jun Kaneko, Willem de Kooning, Roy Lichtenstein, Takashi Murakami, Alice Neel, and Andy Warhol. Collectors will also find rare Japanese books from the Richard Lane Collection.
Payment is by credit card only. Cash and checks will not be accepted.
SEMI-ANNUAL CLEARANCE SALE
Then Thursday, March 21 to Sunday, March 24, the Museum Shop holds its semi-annual clearance sale. Visitors will find bargains on select books, stationery, posters, jewelry, T-shirts and more—all reduced 30 to 80 percent.
“We are ‘sunsetting’ products with our former name, and moving forward with our new identity,” says shop manager Kathee Hoover.
On Sunday, March 24, prices of most remaining merchandise will be further reduced. Many items will be an extra 50 percent off of the sale price. Proceeds from the sale directly support Museum programs.
MOTHER'S DAY TRUNK SHOW IN MAY
In time for Mother’s Day, the Honolulu Museum of Art Shop holds its first group trunk show on Saturday, May 4.
