On the reality show, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”, the fans and viewers have been introduced to Lee “Uncle Poodle” Thompson. “Uncle Poodle” is the uncle of Alana Thompson, aka Honey Boo Boo and has revealed that he is HIV positive.
Lee Thompson stated that he wants to use his “star power” to help combat bullying in school and promote safe sex. Thompson revealed he tested HIV positive in May 2012.
Thompson stated, “I knew it had been my boyfriend who infected me. I later learned he had been HIV positive and was not taking medication and had not bothered to tell me about it.”
“I was advised that I should press charges, and hesitantly, I did. It was the right thing to do.”
Thompson revealed that his ex-boyfriend is now serving a five year sentence. When it comes to people who don’t practice safe sex, Thompson has some strong opinions.
“They are damn fools. They are playing Russian roulette. They are playing with their lives and that of their sexual partners.”
