Honey Boo Boo's frugal family: Where all of the show's earnings are going

Despite their new source of income, the Honey Boo Boo clan insists that they are playing it smart with their earnings.

In an article dated Jan. 6, TMZ reports that Mama June has set up a trust fund for her children.

June told TMZ that the lion’s share of earnings from “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” ($15k - $20k per episode) is being equally divided into a trust fund for all her girls which include Honey Boo Boo herself AKA Alana (7), Lauryn (12), Jessica (15), Anna (18), and baby Kaitlyn.

June further tells TMZ that her girls cannot touch the cash until they turn 21, unless they have a medical emergency or need to use it for school.

"I want my kids to look back and say, 'Mama played it smart. Not like those other reality TV people,” shared Mama June.

In case you’re not convinced of June’s sincerity in the matter, she further revealed that she never even sees any of the money.

TLC puts the money into the girls’ trust accounts for me and then I get an email telling me how much everyone gets,” said the redneck Mama.

"You’re never gonna see me drive a Range Rover or a Mercedes. I'll drive one if someone else pays for it. Never gonna live above my means,” continued frugal June.

It would appear that thus far, June is certainly holding true to her word. The family’s biggest purchase since their TLC fame has only been a splurge on a used 2005 Ford Expedition. That seems pretty humble considering they could easily afford a Range Rover or a Mercedes by now.

What’s more? June shared that Sugarbear still brings in money from his contractor job, and it is that money that is used for paying the bills.

Whether you’re a Honey Boo Boo fan or not, evidence continually shows that they are money savers, and that their new status hasn’t changed that. Additionally, the Thompsons are also known to give back to the community, and seem well liked and respected by their neighbors. We just simply aren't hearing about any elaborate purchases like we do with most stars.

Until we hear otherwise, June and her group just simply don’t fit the profile of money hungry people. Though half of America loves the show, and the other half seems to hate it, we have yet to have any reason to believe that these people aren’t the real deal.

Be sure to tune in tonight, Jan. 6 as Honey Boo Boo and her family return with their first HOLLAday special! This should be an especially interesting episode as Mama June's biggest fear is revealed...........mayonnaise.
