Honduras await players but increase intensity

The environment at Honduran training camp looked more intense than in previous days as more fans began to arrive to catch a glimpse of their favorite players as well as interact with them. Practice continued for Honduras although the intensity was ramped up just a bit as coach Luis Fernando Suárez looked to start getting his players fit in the next few days. Goalkeepers began their individual drills while field players worked on sprints looking to work on more explosive movements. Suárez as well as fitness coaches implemented the use of weighted sleds in some of the drills.

The final portion of the session consisted of one-touch drills between the field players while goalkeepers were allowed to come in to obtain treatment and go into recovery mode.

The national team is also waiting for the arrival of three players later on Sunday as Victor Bernardez, Marvin Chávez and Roger Espinoza are scheduled to fly in. Anderlecht´s Andy Najar is scheduled to arrive from Belgium on Tuesday after having won the Jupiler Pro League on Sunday.

Wednesday will be an intense double-shift for Los Catrachos as they will have a training session on the beach and then the afternoon session will take place at their current headquarters at the Holiday Inn Sports Complex in Sunrise.

Suárez did mention that he expects the remaining player to arrive by Wednesday at the latest in order to begin preparations for their upcoming friendly matches.

He also did find out about the call-up from Israel as the news was reported by Honduran daily Diez that the club coached by Eli Guttman would be flying into Houston on Saturday for the match that La Bicolor will have at BBVA Compass Stadium on June 4 before returning to Miami to play England at Sun Life Stadium in Miami three days later. After that match they will head to their World Cup base in Porto Feliz in the state of São Paulo.

Honduras will debut in Porto Alegre's Estadio Beira-Rio against France on June 15 followed by a clash against South American side Ecuador at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba five days later. They will wrap up their group stage play at the Arena Amazônia in Manaus where they will play against Switzerland on June 25.
