On February 22, 2013 the Asheboro Police responded to a call at 1253 Apt. A, Old Liberty Road, Asheboro in reference to a stabbing. As a result of the stabbing, Ezra Olen Scofield III died.
In an email press release from the Asheboro Police Department dated February 28, 2013 but emailed today the case has been ruled as self-defense. According to the email, Linda Marie Anderson Silwood, who was identified as a live in girlfriend was the person that stabbed Mr. Scofield.

The case was presented to the Randolph District Attorney’s Office and they declined prosecution at this time. It was determined that Ms. Silwood acted in self-defense for her life.
