It started off as a normal Wednesday for the staff at Meadowlake Pet Resort. Clients dropping their precious pups off for Doggie Daycare, lodging, grooming and for training consultations filled the front lobby. A small dog caught the eye of a departing customer and informed the front desk staff that there was a dog outside Meadowlake’s door. A staff member investigated the front porch and sure enough, saw that there was a small brown dog wagging its tail and begging to come inside! Fortunately for the dog, the staff member recognized her and brought her inside. Sasha hadn’t been to the five star pet resort since July and the staff were shocked that the dog wandered back to Meadowlake. Sasha’s owner was called and after a tear filled reunion, she explained to the staff how her dog became missing; Sasha decided to escape and take a stroll that morning without notifying her owner. Sasha’s owner frantically searched for her for hours until Meadowlake Pet Resort called and informed her that Sasha had showed up at Meadowlake’s door, and that she was safe. Sasha’s natural instincts to get back home kicked in when she realized she was lost. Her journey was through a neighborhood, down 2 busy roads, and across a parking lot to Meadowlake’s front door. Her trip was dangerous and fortunately she was unscathed. Thanks to Sasha’s instinctive behavior to get to a safe and familiar place and Meadowlake’s staff for recognizing her out of hundreds of pets, she is safe at home looking back on a memory.
