Homeschoolers dance at Reverence Studios

Many homeschoolers enjoy dance class from ballet to tap to jazz. Mechanicsburg now has a dance studio that makes special provisions for homeschooled students to do just that.

Reverence Studios opened in September of 2008. Owner and Artistic Director, Kirsten Kline has made available additional daytime classes perfect for the homeschooling family's schedule. She also gives students the opportunity to supplement their portfolios with dance-related reports. This year Kirsten created a fantastic Leadership Program that gives selected older students an opportunity to assist the teacher in leading classes for the younger students.

Reverence Studios stands apart from other studios due to its Christ-centeredness. The mission of the studio is "an inspirational environment dedicated to the express purpose of sharing the hope of Jesus Christ through the arts. Open to students of any age, our classroom environment will offer students strong technical and spiritual training in a non-threatening, fun, and wholesome environment."

When asked about her background and qualifications as a dance instructor, Kirsten stated, "I've been actively involved in dance and theater since the age of 3 (I'm 25 now), and have always loved it. When I was in high school, I began to dream about a place where people could come to get a solid dance education, but where Christ would be the center of everything. Reverence Studios is the fruition of that dream. After graduating from Geneva College with a degree in Business Administration, I came back to Central PA to work and teach ballet..."

And the best part of this business? "My students love their dance classes and the friendships that they've formed because of them so much that they never want to leave at the end of their classes! I love that. Many of them would be there every single day of the week if they could and I think that speaks volumes of the structured and friendly learning environment that Reverence Studios has created. My passion is to see all my students and staff grow in their dance skills, life skills, and walk with the Lord. It's been my greatest joy over the past year and a half to see that play out. To the glory of God, we are succeeding," said Kirsten.

The grand finale comes at the end of the spring semester with a beautifully crafted recital in which the dancers can showcase their newly learned skills.  Parents and friends are invited to come see the accomplishments of the students.
