Homes are dressed with carpeting and throw rugs while other rooms are decorated with other types of materials. Bedrooms contain linens, blankets, curtains or drapes. All of these items can seem a little stuffy at times and it is nice to be able to spruce them up a bit to eliminate some of the dust or smells on carpets that can get tracked in on a daily basis.
Normal routines of changing bed linens done weekly do prevent dirt and sweat from building up. Using a fabric softener may only last a few days and the scent they leave is relaxing and missed when it dissipates.
Carpets on the other hand are also vacuumed weekly and in many homes daily depending upon how many people or pets are running through the rooms. This cleaning system will help keep dirt from being embedded in the fibers but it doesn’t do much for a refreshing scent for all the little ones that crawl about the floor.
There is a simple solution you can make at home for just pennies instead of spending a lot of money on store bought bottles or freshening sprays. Now you’ll be able to spruce up a room, curtains, linens and carpeting so less dust will get kicked up and the fabrics will be more resistant to creating static electricity too.
Homemade fabric and carpet freshener:
- A clean empty spray bottle
- 2 ounces of fabric softener
- 12 ounces of water
- Add half the water into the spray bottle then add in the fabric softener and fill with the remaining water.
- Shake the bottle up and begin spritzing the house to eliminate some stale or smelly spots that may be on fabrics or carpets in the house.
Breathe in the freshness any time!
